Job Summary

Provides therapy to patients based on patient need and medical direction. Provides patient/caregiver education and arranges for adaptive equipment as needed.

Essential Functions

1. Performs evaluation procedures to assess the level of disability within scope of practice, goals, and treatment plans; makes appropriate recommendations.
2. Provides a treatment program and education to restore and maximize patient function. Assesses treatment effectiveness and modifies goals/methods as needed.
3. Documents evaluations and treatments in compliance with departmental standards, legal, and reimbursement procedures.
4. Trains and instructs other rehabilitation staff, nursing, medical personnel, and students regarding patient needs and rehabilitation services.
5. Participates in process improvement, patient satisfaction initiatives, program development, and marketing activities.
6. Demonstrates productivity according to departmental standards.
7. Enhances skills through continuing education, competencies, and development of new patient care concepts for various populations.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's Degree in Speech Therapy from an accredited program.
• Preferred: Master's or Doctorate in Speech Therapy from an accredited program.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• CRT-Speech Language Pathologist - ASHA (1 year required).
• Valid Driver's License (Michigan) - required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC - 90 days required.
