Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital – Orlando Central is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist on a Per Diem schedule. The role pays $55.00 per hour with a $5,000 sign on bonus.

The site is a 31-bed critical illness recovery hospital focusing on acute rehab and interdisciplinary care, with potential full-time opportunities based on performance. Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or completion within 90 days of employment.
• Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive evaluation of communication skills and swallowing function with goal-oriented treatment.
• Collaborate with Rehab Therapy staff to deliver interdisciplinary patient programming.
• Monitor quality of services within Rehab Therapy Department.
• Participate in peer review for staff performance and appraisals.
• Assist in developing SLP programs and revising department policies and procedures.
• Maintain adequate stock of supplies.
• Share professional knowledge and alert Manager to educational needs.

Select Specialty Hospital – Orlando Central is a 31-bed free-standing critical illness recovery hospital. We specialize in helping critically ill patients breathe, speak, eat, walk and think as independently as possible.

Our hospital also offers medical rehabilitation through Select Medical Rehabilitation, a 32-bed acute rehabilitation unit. The unit is designed to meet an individual’s rehabilitation needs and goals through a range of programs and services. The unit is located within Select Specialty Hospital – Orlando Central

Responsibilities

• As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will take initiative, responsibility, and action every day; you understand physical, mental, psychological and social needs of your patients.
• You have an understanding of communication skills, evaluation, and treatment and a desire to work in collaboration with associates to provide quality interdisciplinary patient programming.
• You will provide a comprehensive evaluation of communication skills and/or swallowing function and provide goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum communication and/or swallowing potential.
• Participates with fellow staff in monitoring the quality of services provided by the Rehab Therapy Department.
• Participates in peer review for staff performance and appraisals.
• Assists in the development of the SLP role in programs and services, as well as revising the departmental policies and procedures.
• Assists in maintaining an adequate stock of supplies.
• Exhibits willingness to share professional knowledge and experience. Alerts the Manager to educational needs

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist required.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association.
