Job summary

Mariner Healthcare in Verdugo City, CA is seeking a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat residents with speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in line with state and federal guidelines. Under physician supervision, you will develop treatment plans, administer assessments, educate families, and maintain accurate records.

A Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, current state licensure, and clinical competency certification are required; one year

Qualifications

• MS in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Current license to practice Speech Therapy as required by state law.
• Certification in clinical competency required.
• One year clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screens and evaluates residents and develops appropriate care plans.
• Under physician direction, provides direct patient treatment per plan.
• Plans or conducts rehabilitative programs to restore communication and swallowing abilities.
• Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
• Instructs residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and practice new skills.
• Completes required forms and documents per company policy and regulations.
• Maintains patient records accurately and timely.
• Devises special tools and treatments for individual patient needs.

Job description

SUMMARY

Evaluates and treats residents and patients with temporary or long-term speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Screens and evaluates Resident and develops appropriate care plan.


• Under a physician’s direction, provides direct patient / resident treatment based on established plan of care.


• Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and / or swallowing or cognitive problems.


• Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.


• Instructs residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.


• Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.


• Maintains patient records in an accurate and timely manner.


• Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

• Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology.


• Current license in Speech Therapy as required by state law.


• Certification in clinical competency.


• One year clinical experience preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May supervise Rehab Aides, and others involved in program
