Job summary

Mariner Healthcare seeks a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in California to evaluate and treat residents with speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive disorders in line with state and federal guidelines.

Under physician direction, you will develop care plans, provide therapy, administer tests, educate families, and document progress in patient records.

This full-time position offers a sign-on bonus and opportunities within a supportive rehab team.

Qualifications

• MS in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
• Current license in Speech Therapy as required by state law.
• Certification in clinical competency.
• One year clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate residents and develop appropriate care plans.
• Under physician direction, provide direct patient treatment per care plan.
• Plan and conduct rehabilitative programs to restore communication, swallowing or cognitive function.
• Administer, score and interpret specialized hearing and speech tests.
• Instruct residents, families and caregivers to monitor speech and practice new skills.
• Complete forms and documents per policy and state/federal regulations.
• Maintain patient records accurately and timely.
• Devise tools and treatments for individual patient needs.

SUMMARY

Evaluates and treats residents and patients with temporary or long-term speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Screens and evaluates Resident and develops appropriate care plan.


• Under a physician’s direction, provides direct patient / resident treatment based on established plan of care.


• Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and / or swallowing or cognitive problems.


• Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.


• Instructs residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.


• Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.


• Maintains patient records in an accurate and timely manner.


• Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

• Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology.


• Current license in Speech Therapy as required by state law.


• Certification in clinical competency.


• One year clinical experience preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May supervise Rehab Aides, and others involved in program
