Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for a per diem, onsite role. You will perform diagnostic and rehabilitative speech, voice and dysphagia services, lead program planning, and educate patients, families, and trainees.

The position involves supervising graduate students/fellows, developing innovative care programs, and maintaining thorough patient records. Day shifts with an 8-hour standard schedule.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
  • Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • One year of relevant experience or completion of a one-year clinical fellowship.

  • Analyzes results of diagnostic/therapeutic tests to set patient goals or adjust treatment.
  • Selects and applies current techniques for speech/language/swallow rehabilitation.
  • Provides counseling to patients/families and shares updates in team meetings.
  • Supervises graduate students and clinical fellows and educates health professionals in the specialty.
  • Develops or contributes to innovative programs to enhance patient care and serves as a resource consultant.
  • Maintains valid records of procedures, progress, and recommendations.
  • Provides clinical speech-language pathology services—assessment and planning.

Summary

Performs diagnostic and rehabilitative speech/language voice and/or dysphagia services, program planning, patient and family education, and training of students and fellows.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzes results of diagnostic and/or therapeutic testing to establish patient goals and/or modify subsequent treatment programs.
  • Selects and applies current and advanced techniques to provide quality and efficient speech/language/swallow rehabilitation services.
  • Provides counseling and/or feedback to patients and/or family members regarding patient's care through team meetings and/or direct contact.
  • Supervises graduate speech/language pathology students and/or clinical fellows and educates health professionals in area of specialty.
  • Develops or contributes to innovative programs to enhance patient care. Serves as resource consultant to other clinicians in respective specialty area.
  • Maintains valid and reliable records of patient procedures, progress and/or recommendations.
  • Provides clinical speech-language pathology services--assessment and planning.
Education Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
  • Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
Professional Experience Requirements
  • One (1) year of relevant experience or completion of a one (1) year clinical fellowship.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements
  • Administers complex diagnostic tests and evaluations of speech, language and swallow disorders.
