Speech Language Pathologist Role

The licensed Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and treats patients in accordance with state and national practice acts. Responsibilities include conducting therapy evaluations, developing and adjusting treatment plans, providing direct patient care, supervising students, consulting with physicians and team members, documenting in the electronic medical record, and participating in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.

Minimum Education

Graduation from an accredited school with a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology; Doctorate preferred.

Required Licenses

Must be licensed by the State of Ohio.

Required Skills
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.
  • CPR certified.
  • Ability to evaluate, formulate a plan of care, and perform therapy treatments.
  • Knowledge of therapy equipment and electronic medical records.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to multitask.
