Role Mission

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a key member of the Special Programs team and partners with regional instructional leaders, campus leaders, and teachers to maximize student outcomes. As the SLP, you will be responsible for setting ambitious goals for IDEA student achievement and investing students and families in accomplishing them. You will create a powerful learning environment and plan and deliver purposeful therapy to close gaps in communication and academic skills. You will assess for communication disorders, track student progress, analyze data to intervene and adjust therapy, and strive for excellence as an educator and IDEA team member.

Description

The SLP reports directly to the regional Lead SLP, with some minor travel between campuses. This is a full-time on-site position in the Mid Rio Grande Valley, serving schools in Donna, Elsa, Alamo, San Juan, Pharr, and Edinburg. Preference is given to candidates residing in the region or willing to relocate.

Essential Duties - Accountabilities
  1. Review IEPs to ensure 100% implementation and provide high-quality speech therapy services.
  2. Create IEPs aligned to instruction with collaboration from parents, educators, and interventionists.
  3. Monitor student progress and update goals or request testing as needed.
  4. Ensure compliance with ARDs by reviewing and scheduling ARDs timely.
  5. Facilitate ARDs, prepare documentation, and ensure timely submission.
  6. Participate in ARDs, update IEPs, and schedule services based on student progress.
  7. Complete speech assessments and determine eligibility according to policies and guidelines.
  8. Develop and maintain documentation such as therapy notes, logs, and reports.
  9. Maintain SHARS records and submit billing monthly.
  10. Participate in performance reviews and support RTI implementation.
  11. Conduct formal assessments and report evaluation results within TEA timeframes.
What You Bring – Competencies
Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficiency in assessment tools for communication disorders.
  • Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation processes.
  • Ability to manage student behaviors and collaborate with educators and parents.
  • Excellent presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Required Experience
  • Master’s degree in Communication Disorders.
  • Valid Texas license as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • ASHA Certification.
  • CFY Interns accepted.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work in various environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds in emergencies.
  • Ability to work with children in indoor and outdoor settings.
What We Offer

Salary ranges from $70,000 to $82,000, based on experience and qualifications, with potential performance pay.
