Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist at the Edna Tina Wilson Living Center in Rochester, NY. This per diem day position supports the Physical Medicine department with flexible hours, typically 8:00am–4:30pm.

NYS licensure is required, with CFY completion or supervised fellowship a prerequisite. Responsibilities include comprehensive evaluations, treatment planning, and collaboration with the rehab team to optimize patient independence and quality of life.

Responsabilités

• Perform a complete initial evaluation of referred patient and develop and implement treatment plans with short- and long-term goals; involve patient, family and staff in the plan; re‑evaluate patient status and progress toward independence.
• Maintain complete documentation of patient evaluations, treatment, progress and discharge status; send required information to appropriate professionals.
• Actively participate in rehabilitation team efforts to meet patient needs, including counseling and teaching patient and family, coordinating plans with MDs and assisting in discharge planning.

SUMMARY

JOB: Speech Language Pathologist

SCHEDULE: Per Diem- Days Vary 8:00am-4:30pm Hours Flexible

ATTRIBUTES

• Minimum of nine (9) months of supervised work experience (completion of CFY), or participation in supervised clinical fellowship, for a minimum of 36 weeks under a NYS licensed Speech Pathologist, followed by the NYS licensure examination and achievement of NYS license
• One (1) year experience with frail elderly population preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Evaluation & Planning. Perform a complete initial evaluation of referred patient; develop and implement treatment plans, including appropriate short- and long-term goals; involve the patient, family and staff in the implementation of the treatment program; re-evaluate patient functional status progressively; advance patient toward maximal performance and functional independence
• Documentation. Maintain a complete documentation of patient evaluations, treatment, progress and discharge status; send required information to appropriate professionals
• Collaboration. Actively participate in rehabilitation team efforts to meet patient needs, including counseling and teaching patient and family, discussing changes in treatment programs with MDs, coordinating healthcare plans with other involved professionals and assisting in discharge planning as appropriate

• MS: Speech Pathology (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light - Clinical - Light clinical roles involve frequent standing and walking, with occasional lifting of light objects (≤20 lbs.) and routine reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation for tasks such as patient care, laboratory work, or specimen processing. Staff rely on strong visual and auditory acuity to accurately observe specimens, read instrumentation, monitor patients, respond to alarms, and communicate effectively with care teams. Cognitive demands include multitasking, prioritizing clinical and laboratory workflows, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. Emotional resilience is necessary due to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and the need for precise and compassionate interaction with patients and colleagues. Environmental exposures may include infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, chemical reagents, and wet surfaces. PPE use, TB testing, and schedule flexibility are commonly required.
