Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Michigan seeks a Speech Language Pathologist for Home Health Care in the Macomb Suburbs. This part-time role is 20 hours per week, dayshift, serving HFHS patients in the community.

You will deliver clinical SLP services, assess and treat swallowing and communication disorders, collaborate with care teams, and participate in education and program development. Michigan license and ASHA CCC/CPC or CFY completion required.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Successful completion of the National Praxis Examination.
• Successful completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year.
• One year of clinical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver dynamic clinical speech-language pathology services to HFHS patients.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and HFHS staff on communication and swallowing challenges.
• Diagnose speech, language, and swallowing disorders and evaluate patient prognosis.
• Create customized treatment and therapy programs and conduct follow-up visits.
• Master clinical equipment to measure speech production during evaluations and treatment.
• Perform endoscopic assessments of vocal fold function and swallowing.
• Partner with dietary staff to develop eating programs for swallowing challenges.
• Coach patients to use communication tech after surgery and cancer treatment.
• Lead and mentor students and fellows in scheduling and performance feedback.
• Represent HFHS at conferences and educate organizations about HFHS programs.

Speech Language Pathologist- Home Health Care - Macomb Suburbs - 20 Hours - Days

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

• **Deliver dynamic clinical speech-language pathology services** to HFHS patients by:
• Collaborating with patients, families, and HFHS staff to explore communication and swallowing challenges;
• Diagnosing speech, language, and swallowing disorders while evaluating patient conditions and prognosis;
• Creating customized treatment and therapy programs that get results;
• Scheduling and conducting engaging patient follow-up visits.
• **Master clinical equipment** to measure and analyze speech production characteristics during patient evaluations and treatment sessions.
• **Perform endoscopic assessments** of vocal fold vibratory function and swallowing function with precision and care.
• **Partner with dietary personnel** to develop creative nutritional menus and eating programs tailored for patients with swallowing challenges.
• **Empower patients** by prescribing appropriate communication technology following cancer or laryngeal surgery, then coaching them to confidently use their new tools and develop stronger communication skills.
• **Champion departmental growth** by actively participating in education and research programs, including program development, clinical fellow orientation, and hands-on instruction.
• **Lead and mentor** departmental graduate students and clinical fellows through work scheduling, motivation, performance feedback, and day-to-day guidance.
• **Represent HFHS with pride** at community, regional, and national conferences while educating local organizations about the innovative programs available.
• **Take on additional responsibilities** as assigned or requested to support team success.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program;
• Successful completion of the National Praxis Examination;
• Successful completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year.
• One year of experience in a clinical setting required.

LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• The State of Michigan license; Certificate of Clinical Competence by ASHA
