Job summary

Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehabilitation in Tennessee seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide services, screen, evaluate, and develop treatment plans while adhering to professional standards.

You will collaborate with residents and the interdisciplinary team, document findings, and participate in care conferences, with opportunities for supervision of assistants and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
  • Valid state Speech Language Pathologist license.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP, where applicable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic internet navigation.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize patient communication and swallowing function by providing, directing, and/or overseeing speech-language pathology services, including screening, evaluation, and treatment.
  • Comply with state and federal guidelines related to accurate and timely documentation and billing.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of Rehabilitation regarding departmental activities and operations.
  • Establish and maintain patient-centered interactions with patients, the interdisciplinary team, and facility staff.
  • Refer patients for treatment to Speech Language Pathology Assistants where applicable and provide clinical supervision.
  • Participate in utilization review, care conferences, case management, administrative meetings, and interdisciplinary team activities.
  • Develop and enhance speech-language pathology programs and services to support quality outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and patient rights policies.
  • Enhance clinical expertise through continuing education and professional development.
  • Maintain valid state licensure and ASHA certification where applicable.
  • Understand and apply relevant payment models and treatment guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the facility and patient information.
  • Conduct oneself in an ethical, legal, and professional manner at all times.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • May supervise Speech Language Pathology Assistants, rehab techs, and/or students in accordance with state practice act guidelines and policies.
