Job summary

Adventist HealthCare’s White Oak Medical Center seeks a Speech Language Pathologist for our Inpatient Therapy Department. The role involves evaluating and treating patients across acute, outpatient, and inpatient rehab settings, coordinating care with the team, and planning discharges with follow-up as needed.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Speech-Language Pathology, an active Maryland license, and CPR certification.

  • Bachelor's/Master's/Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Active Maryland License to practice.
  • AHA CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs an initial examination and evaluation to establish impairment/diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care across rehab settings.
  • Provides or supervises therapy interventions and documents progress with the care team.
  • Plans discharge and follow-up or referrals in coordination with the provider/team.
  • Communicates, coordinates and documents all aspects of patient management with the care team and supervises rehab aides and staff.
  • Manages schedule to accommodate census and informs management of caseload issues.
  • Attends team meetings and contributes to performance improvement and professional development.

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Speech Language Pathologist for our Inpatient Therapy Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

As a Speech Language Pathologist, You Will
  • Performs an initial examination and evaluation to establish an impairment/diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served with basic and some complex rehabilitation needs in acute care, outpatient, or inpatient rehabilitation settings (flexes to any Rehab site as needed)
  • Provides, or direct and supervise, the therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care. The therapist involves the patient/client and appropriate others in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the plan of care. Reexamine the patient/client as necessary during an episode of care to evaluate progress or change in patient/client status and modify the plan of care accordingly or discontinue speech-language pathology services
  • In consultation with appropriate disciplines, plan for discharge of the patient/client, taking into consideration the achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, and provide for appropriate follow-up or referral. The speech-language pathologist discontinues intervention when the patient/client is unable to continue to progress toward goals or when the speech-language pathologist determines that the patient/client will no longer benefit from therapy (in coordination with the referring provider/team where indicated)
  • Communicates, coordinates and document all aspects of patient/client management including the results of the initial examination and evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, interventions, response to interventions, barriers to progress, changes in patient/client status relative to the interventions, reexamination, and discharge/discontinuation of intervention and other patient/client management activities with members of the care team as indicated. Supervise and direct the patient care activities of assigned rehab aides, office assistants, and volunteers
  • Manages schedule to accommodate range in census and patient load and inform management of any issues with caseload management
  • Attends team meetings and effectively communicate patient status, using, if needed, the medical record or other treating therapists to ensure sufficient knowledge of the case
  • Responsible for individual and assigned hospital performance improvement and professional development activities
  • Educates and provide consultation to consumers, healthcare professionals, and the public regarding the purposes and benefits of therapy
Qualifications Include
  • Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Speech-language pathology from accredited speech-language pathology program.
  • 1-year site specific preferred
  • Active Maryland License
  • AHA HCP CPR
Work Schedule
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Hours per Week: 40 Hours a week
  • Shift Type: Day
  • Typical Schedule: Monday thru Thursday
  • Weekend Requirements: One weekend day per month is required; a compensatory day off must be used within that same week.

Pay Range

$34.58 - $51.87
