Job summary

Western Slope Health Center in Placerville, CA, is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow to join our rehabilitation team. This entry-level role offers mentorship, hands-on skill development, and meaningful impact in a supportive skilled nursing environment.

You will work under supervision, providing evidence-based speech therapy services to residents, while collaborating with physicians, nursing, and families. This position emphasizes growth, education, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Eligible for California SLP Clinical Fellow licensure.
  • Eligible to complete ASHA CCC-SLP Clinical Fellowship requirements.
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain on hire).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with electronic medical records is preferred (Net Health and PointClickCare).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate residents to determine speech therapy needs and rehabilitation potential.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide treatment for communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, residents, families, and the care team.
  • Participate in care conferences and rehabilitation meetings.
  • Educate residents and families on strategies and home programs.
  • Complete accurate documentation using EMR systems.
  • Assist with restorative nursing education and staff training.
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment and participate in quality improvement.

What You'll Do

As a Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow, you will work under appropriate supervision while providing evidence-based speech therapy services to residents.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate residents to determine speech therapy needs, functional limitations, and rehabilitation potential under physician orders.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide treatment for communication, cognitive-linguistic disorders, and swallowing disorders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Participate in care conferences, utilization review meetings, and rehabilitation meetings.
  • Educate residents, caregivers, and families on treatment strategies, safety, swallowing precautions, and home programs.
  • Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation using electronic medical record systems.
  • Assist with restorative nursing education and staff in-service training.
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment following infection control and safety standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and rehabilitation program development.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Eligible for California Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow licensure.
  • Eligible to complete Clinical Fellowship requirements for ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire if required).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with electronic medical records is preferred (Net Health and PointClickCare experience is a plus).
Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and assisting residents with mobility and therapeutic activities. Candidates must be able to safely perform the essential duties of the position while maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff.
