Job summary

Rehab Solutions is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for a hospital setting, PRN or Part-Time. You will assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders, collaborating with hospital staff and UT Health teams.

The role emphasizes flexible scheduling, strong clinical support, and patient-centered therapy to improve outcomes in acute and inpatient settings. Registration and ASHA credentials are required or in process.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist or eligibility.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP certification preferred.
  • Strong assessment, diagnostic and therapy abilities; team player.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice and swallowing.
  • Implement evidence-based therapy and educate patients and families.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation per hospital standards.
  • Collaborate with UT Health physicians and care teams for discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing (dysphagia) disorders using standardized tests and bedside clinical assessments. Develop accurate diagnoses and individualized care plans.
  • Treatment and Education: Implement evidence-based therapy interventions for speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders; adjust treatment plans based on patient progress; educate patients, families, and care teams on treatment strategies and safe swallow protocols.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital standards, regulatory guidelines, and payor requirements.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with UT Health physicians, nursing staff, case managers, and interprofessional rehabilitation teams to ensure seamless patient care and safe discharge planning.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Valid state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in Iowa, or eligible for licensure.
  • Certification: Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (CCC-SLP).
  • Skills: Strong assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic abilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in using diagnostic tools, therapy equipment, relevant software, and electronic health record systems, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
