Description
The SLP will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess, develop, and implement appropriate interdisciplinary Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students. The student population primarily includes non-verbal, non-ambulatory children with brain injuries or brain-based disorders. The role also involves participating in research efforts related to these students and the organization. Successful candidates should demonstrate strategic focus, leadership, effective communication, accountability, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate students' functional status using validated standardized assessment tools periodically and as needed.
- Establish treatment goals based on parent input and clinical assessments.
- Plan, implement, and modify the Plan of Care (POC) based on assessments and evidence-based outcomes.
- Prepare and update IEPs in a timely manner.
- Coordinate treatment strategies with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide instruction and education to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and conferences.
- Accurately document treatment sessions, reports, and student-specific forms.
- Engage in research activities related to clinical practice.
- Collaborate with the team, including special education teachers and therapists.
- Involve parents regularly in their child's progress and activities.
- Design lessons and treatment plans using multisensory approaches, including art, music, and technology.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and participate actively.
- Assist in developing educational modules for staff training and accreditation.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant environment following regulations.
- Ensure confidentiality of records per HIPAA/FERPA.
- Perform additional responsibilities as organizational needs dictate, including research and continuing education.
- Submit session notes daily and report seizure-like events promptly.
- Participate in Grand Rounds, including preparing slides, attending training, and presenting quarterly.
- Attend innovation meetings and support research integrity training.
- Identify knowledge gaps annually for continuing education.
Qualifications
- Valid NYS SLP license or eligibility.
- Two years of pediatric clinical experience with children with neurological disorders preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Initiative, flexibility, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds independently.
- Detail-oriented, motivated, and capable of working collaboratively.
- Research experience is a plus.
- A good sense of humor is required.
