Primary Purpose
Plan and provide speech-language pathology services, including evaluations, as required to assist students with disabilities to benefit from special education.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- Master’s degree or higher in speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited/approved college or university program, and Valid Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist granted by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology, and CCC or TEA certification in Speech-Language Pathology
- Or Master’s degree or higher in speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited/approved college or university program, and Valid Texas license as an Intern in Speech-Language Pathology (CFY) to practice under supervision of CCC-SLP while completing the post-master’s degreed 36 week full-time internship
- Or Bachelor’s degree or higher in speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited/approved college or university program and Valid Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist granted by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology, and TEA certification in Speech-Language Pathology
Special Knowledge/Skills

Experience
Minimum of one year supervised clinical speech-language pathology experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional strategies to promote student growth
- Conduct speech-language evaluations/reevaluations of students referred through special education and provide a written evaluation report for assigned students.
- Provide speech-language therapy services according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology, CCISD board policies, and administrative guidelines.
- Plan and provide direct and consultative speech-language pathology services consistent with speech and language goals and objectives contained in the student’s IEP for assigned students.
- Work with other members of general and special education staff and administrators to determine present levels of performance, as well as, goals and objectives for determined areas of need.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student’s progress, keep therapy logs for sessions recording progress data, and use results to plan and implement therapy.
- Review existing therapy data and conduct assessments to determine readiness for dismissal of speech-language pathology services.
- Work cooperatively with the campus and district instructional supervisors, coordinators, and department leads to improve therapy services.
- Integrate the instruction of technology into subject area instruction and use available technologies as appropriate therapy and learning tools.
- Plan and supervise assignments of speech-language pathology assistants, students, and interns.
Communication

- Create an instructional therapy environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the CCISD Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Provide for care and protection of school property and be held accountable for books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Maintain accurate student attendance, therapy session data records, and evaluation reports and protocols in compliance with local and state requirements.
- Assist in upholding and implementing administrative regulations and board policy.
- Manage and utilize data effectively for systemic process and program analysis.
- Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systemic processes and practices.
