Job summary

Westminster Public Schools seeks a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist for Josephine Hodgkins Leadership Academy and Mesa Elementary School. 8 hours per day, 185 days per year; new licensed staff may be contracted for 190 days in their first year. The ideal candidate holds a M.A./M.S.

• Master's degree in communication disorders or speech science is required.
• Colorado licensure in Speech-Language Pathology is required or in process.
• ASHA CCC desirable or CFY supervision available.

Responsibilities

• Identifies students with communication disorders by completing assessments.
• Plans instruction and interventions for learners with communication disorders.
• Collaborates with interventionist team and teachers regarding needs.
• Monitors progress and provides specific feedback to students.
• Establishes classroom management supports for behavior.
• Fulfills contractual and professional responsibilities.
• Member of IEP and Interventionist team.
• Develops integrated IEP planning and interventions.
• Submits required paperwork for IEP meetings and Medicaid billing.
• Provides strategies to support students and staff.
• Demonstrates knowledge of district curriculum.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• M.A. or M.S. in Communication Disorders and Speech Science
• Candidates with endorsements in CLDE, Bilingual Ed, Foreign Language, and/or sheltered content or other English Language instructional training desired
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence desirable or ability to obtain one (CFY supervision available)
• Possess a Colorado Special Services license in Speech-Language Pathology or obtain one prior to starting date
• Be up to date on current identification, assessment, and treatment of communication disorders
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and relationships with students, parents, staff members, and administrators
• Has knowledge and experience of and/or willingness to gain knowledge of Competency-Based approaches
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired
• Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills (bilingual skills desired)

Job Responsibilities

• Identifies students with communication disorders by completing communication assessments for referred students
• Plans instruction and interventions to support focused students with communication disorders in the Learner Centered Classroom
• Collaborates with interventionist team and levels teachers regarding students' communication needs
• Implements a continuous system of progress monitoring and provide students with specific feedback
• Establishes an effective classroom management system for positive behavior supports when working with students individually, in small groups and/or in the classroom setting, per Board Policy and building regulations
• Fulfills contractual and professional responsibilities
• Member of IEP and Interventionist team
• Development of integrated IEP planning and interventions for student access and achievement
• Submits required and accurate paperwork for IEP meetings and Medicaid billing
• Provides professional information (strategies) to support students, staff members, parents and administrators
• Displays a thorough knowledge of subject matter and District's prescribed curriculum
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director of Integrated Services
