Job summary

Thacher Elementary School in Attleboro, MA seeks a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to provide direct services to students under supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist. This 0.6 district and 0.4 school position starts immediately and requires an Associates degree (Bachelor’s preferred) and MA licensure for SLPA eligibility.

The SLPA will support IEP goals, collect progress data, and help manage assistive devices, while coordinating with teachers and families.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services as indicated on the student’s IEP with supervision by a Speech Language Pathologist
• Collect and maintain data on student progress and direct logs of therapy services
• Maintain compliance with IEP development, team meetings, Medicaid billing, and progress reports
• Participate in development of student’s IEP with direct supervision by the Speech Language Pathologist
• Assist with management of communication and amplification devices
• Assist teachers and staff with curriculum accommodations/modifications and classroom strategies per the Team process and IEP with supervision
• Provide information to parents/guardians about direct services as needed
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by a supervisor and/or designee

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or Director of Special Education

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY

1. Provide direct services as indicated on the student’s Individualized Education Program with consultation and supervision by Speech Language Pathologist.
2. Collects and maintains data on student progress per the IEP goals as well as direct logs of therapy services.
3. Maintain compliance of regulations of Individualized Education Program development, team meetings, Medicaid billing, and progress reports.
4. Participate in the development of student’s Individual Education Program (IEP) with direct supervision by Speech Language Pathologist.
5. Assist with the management of communication and amplification devices.
6. Assist teachers and other special education staff in the development and implementation of curriculum accommodations/modifications and appropriate classroom strategies as determined by the Team process and subsequent IEP formulation with direct supervision by Speech Language Pathologist.
7. Provide information to parents and guardians of students of direct services as needed.
8. Perform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate and assigned by a supervisor and/or designee.

EXPERIENCE:

Students with Level 2 and 3 autism

AAC devices: TouchChat

Safety Care trained, preferred

1-2 years working in a school setting

Spanish speaking preferred

Salary per Attleboro Paraprofessionals Association Collective Bargaining Agreement - Salary Range: $32,266 - $47,397
