Position Overview

As a School Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with communication disorders and language challenges. Key Responsibilities

Individual and Group Therapy:

  • Collaborate with supervising SLP to provide individual and group therapy sessions to address speech and language goals.
  • Collaborate with supervising SLP, teachers and support staff to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom.

Treatment Planning and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with supervising SLP to implement effective treatment plans based on individual student needs.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to address articulation, fluency, voice, and language disorders.

Collaboration with School Team:

  • Collaborate with supervising SLP, teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support a multidisciplinary approach to student success.
  • Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of goals and strategies.

Parent and Caregiver Communication:

  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress.
  • Provide resources and guidance for extending speech and language support at home.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with supervising SLP to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and interventions.
  • Collaborate with supervising SLP to generate reports for IEP meetings and collaborate on data-driven decision-making.

Professional Development:

  • Stay current with advancements in speech-language pathology and educational practices.
  • Engage in continuous professional learning to enhance therapeutic effectiveness.

Additional Duties:

  • Performs other related tasks assigned by Supervisor and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. It is essential to note that the above description is illustrative and not exhaustive.

Education and/or Experience
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in field
  • State licensure or certification in field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of previous experience in field (preferred)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Valid Arizona State licensure or certification in field
Working Environment
  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • May be required to travel to various school district buildings and attend professional meetings as needed, actively participating in the collective efforts to empower the community.
Terms of Employment
  • Salary schedule commensurate with education and experience for this position
  • 186 work days per Board approved work calendar
Clearances
  • Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination
  • Valid I-9 form
  • AZ Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Evaluation
  • Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the District Administration in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
