Job description

Help Kids Show The World How Awesome They Are

As a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) at DV Therapy Learning Center, you'll carry a pediatric caseload at our Covina center, supervised by a licensed SLP (CCC-SLP) who is actually available, not just a name on a supervision form. You'll run treatment sessions, take data, adjust your delivery within the plan, and document as you go, with a caseload you follow over months rather than rotating through. You'll also work alongside the OTs, COTAs, BTs, and BCBAs treating the same children, so the feeding referral or the AAC question gets solved in the hallway instead of over three weeks of phone tag.

For SLPAs heading toward grad school, that adds up to real treatment experience across articulation, language, fluency, and AAC, and a supervisor who will know your work well enough to write about it.

What a Full-Time SLPA At DV Therapy Should Expect
  • $35.00 – $40.00 per hour — your rate, with no bonus folded in to make the number look bigger
  • Our COO started where you're starting. Mariah Prentice came to DV Therapy as an SLPA nearly ten years ago and now runs operations for the whole company. Our Speech and OT Clinical Director, Meghan Foote, MS, CCC-SLP, sets the clinical standards you'll work under, alongside our founder and owner, Iddo deVries, MS, CCC-SLP. The people deciding what your week looks like have all carried a caseload.
  • Supervision that's real. California requires your supervising SLP to directly observe 20% of your work during your first 90 days. We treat that as the floor, not the goal.
  • One clinic, center-based. Speech and OT at DV Therapy are entirely center-based. Your caseload is at your [Bakersfield] clinic — no windshield time, no hauling materials between sites.
  • ABA, OT, and speech all under one roof in Bakersfield. Integrated pediatric teams in person, not referrals into a void. The feeding question, the AAC decision, the behavior barrier — worked out in the hallway.
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and sick time
  • 401(k) with a company match on up to 5%
  • Health insurance, plus up to 9 free mental-health consultations every year through LifeCare
  • CEU reimbursement, liability coverage, gym stipend, phone plan, and LifeMart discounts (including everyday perks like discounted movie tickets)
  • Discretionary profit-sharing bonus program
What You'll Do
  • Provide direct treatment to children and families under the supervision of a licensed SLP (CCC-SLP)
  • Run speech and language screenings using age-appropriate protocols.
  • Document progress in SOAP notes and progress reports that show where each client actually is
  • Support your supervising SLP during assessments and prepare materials ahead of time
  • Carry out home programs and adjust them at your supervisor's direction, so families can keep the work going between sessions
  • Keep therapy equipment in working order, AAC devices included
  • Coordinate with the occupational therapists, behavior therapists, and other clinicians treating the same child
  • Render and cancel appointments in CentralReach
  • Schedule sessions and keep charts and records current
  • Contribute to research projects, in-service trainings, and community education
  • Bring current, specific client updates to team meetings
  • Work in a way that reflects DV Therapy's core values: Respect, Engaged and Driven, Super Flexible, Proficient, Empathetic, Communicative, Tenacious
What You'll Need
  • Valid California SLPA license, in good standing
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a real asset with our families, but not required
Before Your First Day

Current CPR certification and a TB test within the past year. If you need either, we'll point you to where to get them — this isn't a screen, it's onboarding.
