Job summary

Birch Agency is seeking a School-Based Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join a student-centered team in Fayetteville, NC. This in-person role supports students from Early Intervention through 12th grade under licensed SLP supervision.

The SLPA provides direct therapy services, assists with treatment plans, documents progress, and collaborates with educators and related services. North Carolina SLPA license required; degree in SLPA/related field preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program, Communications Sciences and Disorders, or related field.
  • Active North Carolina SLPA License/Registration (required).
  • Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide speech-language therapy services as directed by a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Implement treatment plans and therapy activities developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Assist with screenings and data collection related to student communication needs.
  • Document student performance and progress during therapy sessions.

Location: Fayetteville, NC 28306

Employment Type: Full-Time (Multiple Openings Available)

Setting: In-Person | School-Based

Pay: $40/hour (Dependent on Experience)

Birch Agency is currently seeking dedicated Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) to join a supportive, student-centered school team in the Fayetteville, North Carolina area. This in-person opportunity allows clinicians to support students from Early Intervention through 12th grade while working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. SLPAs play a vital role in helping students develop communication skills that contribute to academic achievement, social development, and overall success.

Position Overview

The School-Based Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides direct speech-language therapy services and instructional support under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. The SLPA assists with implementing treatment plans, documenting student progress, preparing therapy materials, and supporting communication goals in accordance with school, state, and district guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide speech-language therapy services as directed by a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and therapy activities developed by the supervising SLP
  • Assist with screenings and data collection related to student communication needs
  • Document student performance and progress during therapy sessions
  • Prepare and organize therapy materials, activities, and equipment
  • Support students with speech, language, articulation, fluency, voice, and social communication goals
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other related service providers
  • Maintain accurate and timely service logs, attendance records, and required documentation
  • Communicate appropriately with families and school personnel as directed by the supervising SLP
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as required
  • Adhere to state regulations and district policies regarding SLPA practice and supervision
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related field
  • Active North Carolina SLPA License/Registration (required)
  • Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to supporting students with diverse communication needs
Work Environment

This school-based role offers the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative special education team while supporting students' speech and language development across multiple age groups in a structured educational setting. The SLPA will receive supervision and mentorship from licensed Speech-Language Pathologists and school-based professionals.
