Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a Speech Language Pathology Assistant to support the Speech Language Pathologist in delivering speech and language therapy to students with communication disorders. The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and a passion for helping students improve communication.

The SLPA will assist with assessments, implement treatment plans, and document progress under supervision. CPR/First Aid and SLPA certification, plus knowledge of IEPs, are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in SLPA or related field and active status.

Responsibilities

• Assist the SLP with assessments, screenings, and evaluations.
• Implement interventions and treatment plans under supervision.

• Document progress and treatment records accurately.
• Collaborate to modify treatment plans based on progress.
• Monitor progress using objective measures and data collection.
• Support AAC devices and technologies as needed.
• Prepare therapy materials and resources for sessions.
• Bill Medicaid for services delivered to students as indicated.
• Stay current with research, advancements, and best practices.

As a Speech Language Pathology Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in providing speech and language therapy to individuals with communication disorders. Required Qualifications:

• 1. Associate's degree in Speech Language Pathology Assistant program or related field.
• 2. State licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA).
• 3. CPR and First Aid certification.
• 4. Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Speech Language Pathologist in conducting assessments, screenings, and evaluations to identify communication disorders in students.
• Implement therapeutic interventions and treatment plans under the supervision and guidance of the SLP.
• Provide one-on-one or group therapy sessions to clients, incorporating various techniques and exercises to improve speech and language.
• Document and maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, goals, and treatment sessions.
• Collaborate with the SLP to develop and modify individualized treatment plans based on student needs and progress monitoring.
• Monitor and track student progress through objective measures such as standardized testing, observations, and data collection.
• Support clients in the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and technologies, as needed.
• Assist in the preparation and implementation of therapy materials, equipment, and resources.
• Bill Medicaid as indicated by the services delivered to students.
• Stay up-to-date with current research, advancements, and best practices in speech and language pathology.
• Other duties as assigned.
