Job description

Speech and Language Therapist - 2024-2025 School Year

These positions are for the 2024-2025 school year.

Under the direction of the Coordinator in the Special Education-Assessment & Support Services division, the Speech and Language Therapist will:

1. Screen students to determine those who may need speech and language therapy services.
2. Participate in the writing of each student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
3. Administer applicable diagnostic instruments to assess whether students’ needs have been met, i.e., IEP goals and objectives of speech and language therapy.
4. Schedule and provide speech and language therapy as scheduled.
5. Offer suggestions for teachers on speech and language activities beneficial for children exhibiting communicative handicaps.

This is an itinerant position based out of Bakersfield, CA.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Credentials:

• Appropriate California credential(s) for providing speech and language therapy services.

Experience:

• Preferably at least one year of professional speech and language therapy experience.
• Must possess a private vehicle, a valid California driver’s license, and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage.
• Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is required after meeting all other job conditions.
