Job summary

Hillsboro School District is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to support online and on-site services across multiple campuses. The 0.8 FTE temporary position involves screening, evaluating, and providing targeted speech-language interventions for students, while coordinating with teachers, families and administrators.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, be licensed or license-eligible in Oregon, and demonstrate strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
  • Possess a relevant license or license eligibility to practice in Oregon.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or eligibility (CFY) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screen, evaluate and identify students for speech and language services.
  • Design and implement intervention strategies and collect progress data.
  • Maintain daily schedules and communicate with families and staff.

Hiring Administrator: Shannon Lawson

GENERAL DUTIES

Screen, evaluate and identify eligible students for speech and language services; design and implement appropriate intervention strategies; collect student performance data and establish and maintain a daily schedule. Provide information relative to communication disorders to students, parents, teachers and significant others.

Support students in-person &/or online; work on-site at all campuses; communicate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A license by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology; or a license issued by the Teacher Standards and Practice Commission (TSPC) prior to July 1, 2016, and
  • Hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA); or
  • Has completed the equivalent educational requirements and work experience necessary for the certificate; or
  • Has completed the academic program and is acquiring supervised work experience to qualify for the certificate
  • A Master’s Degree in Speech and Language, Speech-Language Pathology, or Communication Disorders
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on the job travel
  • The ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds
  • The ability to work harmoniously with others
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
  • Proficient in use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
  • The ability to learn new automated systems as they are brought online by the District
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence or Clinical Fellowship Year candidate
  • Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred (bilingual is defined as fluency in reading, writing and speaking two languages as determined by District screening tool)
  • Experience with K-12
