Job summary

Confluence Health in Wenatchee, WA seeks a Speech Language Pathologist to join a growing rehab team. The role focuses on outpatient adults with complex speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders, with some inpatient coverage on weekends and holidays.

FEES and VFSS are part of daily practice. The ideal candidate has WA license, ASHA certification, and at least two years of experience; training and career development opportunities are offered in a level III trauma and stroke

Qualifications

  • Active WA State license required by start date.
  • ASHA CCC or CF candidate in progress.
  • Two years of speech-language pathology experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform evaluation and develop treatment plans for adults.
  • Provide dysphagia assessment and manage FEES/VFSS as available.
  • Deliver therapy for communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with rehab team including physicians and nurses.

Summary

Please Note: This is a pool, as needed position with no guarantee of hours.

We are looking for a Speech Language Pathologist to join our growing team of 8 full-/part-time SLP’s. We are a level III trauma center and comprehensive stroke center located in the beautiful Wenatchee Valley. The speech language pathologist will work primarily with outpatient adults including some inpatient acute care coverage for weekend and holiday rotations. They will evaluate and treat patients with more complex speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing impairments, including the Head Neck cancer population. The ideal candidate will bring specialized expertise working with patients with dysphagia, cognitive impairment, voice and speech/language disorders. We currently offer a variety of services and are open to providing training to assist with career development. Daily access to FEES and VFSS.

A Speech Language Pathologist provides professional services in diagnosing disorders and providing therapy for patients who demonstrate disorders of communication and/or swallowing. This includes evaluation of all assigned patients, the development of treatment plans, administration and implementation of the treatment program, and appropriate discharge planning.

Position Reports To: Rehab Services Manager

Essential Functions
  1. Perform initial evaluation including history of prior level of function, subjective information, objective tests and measures, assessment (including discharge disposition/home safety recommendations as appropriate), and establishment of plan of care and goals for future treatments.
  2. Incorporate evidence based clinical decision making to select and utilize appropriate patient interventions in accordance with plan of care, and modify plan of care as appropriate based on patient progress/response to interventions.
  3. Identify the safest, least restrictive diet for patients, educate patients and caregivers on diet modifications, provide instruction to perform accurate diet modifications, and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure patients’ nutritional and hydrational needs are being met safely.
  4. Follow best practice for clinical documentation.
  5. Maintain patient safety, modesty, and privacy/confidentiality at all times.
  6. Provide education to patients, caregivers and other staff members as appropriate.
  7. Collaborate and communicate effectively with other team members including physicians, case managers, nurses, and other therapy staff, including participation in discharge planning in inpatient settings.
  8. Screen for and make referrals to other disciplines when indicated.
  9. Required to maintain current BLS certification.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active or Interim WA State Speech Pathologist license, required by start date.
  • A certification of clinical competence by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) or actively pursuing clinical fellowship with ASHA.

Desired:

  • Two years of speech-language pathology experience.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the Rehabilitation Services department including reception area, treatment rooms, office, gym areas as well as patient rooms and hallways with inpatients. Involves continuous contact with patients. Interaction is constant with frequent interruptions. Contact involves dealing with ill people.
