Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to assess, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders for patients in a busy hospital setting.

The role requires a Master’s in Speech Language Pathology, AZ state licensure, and BLS certification. You will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based care and advance department goals in a growing community.

Qualifications

  • Masters in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in AZ.
  • BLS certification (AHA).
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive evaluations and administers standardized tools for referred patients.
  • Develops and upgrades treatment programs and protocols to improve communication and swallowing.
  • Contributes clinical expertise to departmental and organizational goals.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate referrals and care plans.
  • Follows evidence-based intervention strategies, considering age, culture, and language factors.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Speech Language Pathologist, you will be a vital clinician, expertly assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders to significantly improve patient quality of life.Every day, you will conduct comprehensive evaluations for all referred patients, meticulously implementing individualized treatment plans. You'll contribute clinical expertise to develop/upgrade treatment programs/protocols, and actively shape departmental and organizational goals.To be successful in this role, you will possess advanced clinical knowledge, exceptional diagnostic/therapeutic skills, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

  • Conducts a thorough records review, administers appropriate standardized and non-standardized tools/ methods, also including cultural and linguistic factors, and identifies accurate severity levels.
  • Weighs prognostic factors to formulate prognosis, including developmental and acquired brain injury factors.
  • States measurable short and long term goals targeted at functional outcomes and modifies the plan based on a changing medical condition, needs, progress, and risk factors.
  • Coordinates plans with the interdisciplinary team and makes appropriate referrals to other services as needed.
  • Follows evidence based information for selecting intervention strategies, incorporating age, culture, and linguistic factors and revises treatment interventions appropriately.
  • Applies learning, behavioral, and pragmatic tools and procedures.
Job Requirements
Required
  • Masters in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Serves as a resource by sharing expertise and knowledge
  • Licensed by AZ State Board Speech Language Pathologist
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certificate
Preferred
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in appropriate clinical area
  • Acute care hospital experience
  • Prefer MBS and FEES experience
