Description

Position Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of communication disorders: this includes assessment and treatment of language, articulation, voice, pragmatic language, fluency and executive functioning. Based on interest and experience, this may also include evaluation and treatment of feeding and swallowing disorders.The SLP will complete screenings and evaluations, write appropriate treatment plans and formulate functional goals to help the client and their family achieve their goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and implement treatment plans for pediatric clients, from birth to age 18
  • Create client specific goals focused on effective communication, utilizing verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Prepare and complete detailed documentation and records of evaluations and treatments
  • Provide support and guidance to the clients’ family enabling them to foster the behaviors and practices implemented in treatment
  • Based on interest and specialty, may assess, diagnose, treat feeding and swallowing disorders in children
  • Serve as a CF Supervisor once every two years
  • Maintain a targeted caseload of 25therapy hours a week
Qualifications

Required Education, Experience and Credentials:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Pass the Praxis Examination in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Completion of your Clinical Fellowship Year
  • SLP licensure or license eligible, in the state of Illinois

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Passion for working with neurodiverse pediatric population
  • Competence with a variety of computer applications
  • Competence with Central Reach

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift or carry 30 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to work in a variety of active positions, including on the floor during played-based therapy

Travel Requirements

  • Some travel within assigned region for training, meetings and supporting client coverage needs.
