Job summary

French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to assess, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders, improving patient quality of life. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations of referred patients and develop individualized treatment plans.

You will contribute to treatment programs, collaborate with families and health team members, and ensure care aligns with Federal and State standards.

Qualifications

  • Speech Language Pathologist licensed in California upon hire
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) within 30 days
  • Knowledge of speech pathology assessment and treatment techniques
  • Clinical problem solving and analyses; interpersonal and communication
  • Plan, develop, implement rehabilitation tests and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients to improve functional status under department direction
  • Work in outpatient, inpatient and/or transitional care center as directed by the manager
  • Communicate with families, physicians, other health team members; participate in meetings
  • Report to department manager for clerical and patient care duties
  • Coordinate with department members to optimize delivery of client services with available resources
  • Evaluate inpatients within 24 hours of physician referral; outpatient evaluation within 30 days from referral

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Speech Language Pathologist, you will be a vital clinician, expertly assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders to significantly improve patient quality of life.


Every day, you will conduct comprehensive evaluations for all referred patients, meticulously implementing individualized treatment plans. You'll contribute clinical expertise to develop/upgrade treatment programs/protocols, and actively shape departmental and organizational goals.


To be successful in this role, you will possess advanced clinical knowledge, exceptional diagnostic/therapeutic skills, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.



  • Under the direction of the department manager and upon appropriate physician referral, evaluates and treats patients to improve their functional status.

  • Will work in outpatient, inpatient and/or transitional care center as directed by the manager.

  • Speech pathologist will communicate with families, physicians, other health team members, and participates in meetings as needed. Scope of practice to be consistent with Federal and State standards, as well as, departmental policy and procedure.

  • Reports to department manager for both clerical and patient care duties.

  • Coordinates with other department members as directed by the department manager to optimize delivery of client services with available resources.

  • Evaluates inpatients within 24 hours of physician referral, observing departmental hours of operation. Outpatient evaluation must be within 30 days from date of physician referral.


Job Requirements


  • Speech Language Pathologist: CA, upon hire and

  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days

  • Knowledge of SP assessment and treatment techniques

  • Knowledge of SP and healthcare trends Clinical problem solving and analyses. Interpersonal and communication

  • Plan, develop, implement rehab tests and problems. Documentation.


Preferred


  • Acute care, Rehab, SNF or OP experience

  • Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology, upon hire
