Job summary

The Californian-Pasadena is a skilled nursing facility seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist to join our healthcare team. The role focuses on individualized care to residents and collaboration with the Rehabilitation Director.

Key requirements include CPR certification, a valid Licensed Speech Language Pathologist credential, and the ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds. Prior LTC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• CPR certification is required.
• Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist licensed to practice in the state.
• 1–2 years’ experience in long-term care preferred.
• Must be able to perform physical requirements, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Experience supervising responsibilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with Speech Language Pathology needs.
• Provide assessments, treatment, and rehabilitative services for residents with injuries or diseases.
• Document resident progress and treatment efficacy.
• Monitor treatment outcomes and communicate with staff and Rehab Director.
• Contribute to teaching plans and involve family as appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. CPR Certification (Required)
2. Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (Required)
3. 1-2 years’ experience in long-term care preferred.
4. Good physical and mental health.
5. The candidate must be able to perform any physical requirement of the position, including lifting dead weight or an unassisted weight of 40 pounds.
6. Is capable of following oral and written instructions.
7. Have training, knowledge, and experience, which allows for general supervision of responsibilities.

REPORTING: The Speech Language Pathologist Reports to the Rehabilitation Director

JOB DUTIES:

• Basic knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy, and physiology.
• Treat patient following Speech Language Pathology Standard of Care and Practice.
• Provides Assessment, treatment, and rehabilitative services to patients who have experienced injury or disability disease. Provides residents with exercises related to Speech Language Pathology
• Adheres to standards of physical medicine practice.
• Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect and discuss observations with staff, Physician, and Rehab Director.
• Responsible for the monitoring and documentation of resident treatment and response.
• Assists with formulating a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and assesses learning effectiveness; family is included in teaching as appropriate, and staff and Physician are apprised of conclusions.
• Meets current documentation standards and policies
• Adheres to the facility’s Policy and Procedure
