Job summary

Bath County District Wide seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to screen, assess, and provide services for students with communication disorders in Owingsville, KY. The role develops and implements direct/indirect therapy based on IEP goals, prepares evaluations, and maintains progress records.

Under direction of the Building Principal or Special Education leadership, you will ensure compliance with state/federal guidelines and contribute to treatment planning and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Screen and assess students with communication disorders.
  • Develop and provide direct and indirect services aligned with IEP goals.

  • Ensure compliance with state/federal laws and district policies.
  • Develop treatment plans in line with IEPs and monitor progress.

Job Description

Title: Speech-Language Pathologist

Qualifications:

1. SLP Certification with proper

endorsements.

2. Additional qualifications as

Superintendent or Board may find

appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To:

The Building Principal, Director or Special

Education, and Superintendent.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Admissions and

Release Committee, screen, and assess, and

identify students with communication disorders,

which adversely affect their educational progress.

Develop and provide direct and indirect service

as within the student’s educational setting, based

on established IEP goals and objectives.

1. Prepares written evaluations and maintain

records which clearly and succinctly

document service provided, student

progress and discharge from therapy as

recommended to the Admissions and

Release Committee.

2. Complies with evaluations standards and

determine eligibility for services based on

the Kentucky Eligibility Guidelines for

Communication Disorders.

3. Effectively communicates test results,

diagnosis and proposed treatment plans

to the Admissions and Release

committee.

4. Assures compliance with established

State and federal laws, regulations,

policies, and procedures.

5. Prepares reports as needed by the local

school district and/or KY Department of

Education.

6. Develop treatment plans consistent with

the IEP.

7. Reviews therapy goals and objectives and

make recommendations for changes as

appropriate to the admissions and

Release Committee.

8. Employs instructional/therapeutic

methods and materials that are

appropriate for meeting each student’s

goals and objectives.

9. Operates and maintains a variety of

therapeutic equipment and train others in

use of the equipment as necessary.

10. Assess, selects, and develops
augmentative and/or alternative
communication systems and provide
training in their use.
11. Participate in hearing screening
programs to identify and refer students
with hearing impairment and/or middle
ear disorders.
12. Supervises and coordinates the activities
of any assigned staff. Adheres to state
law regarding the type and amount of
supervision required for licensed speed-
language pathology assistant(s).
13. Communicates with students who have
disorders of communication, their
families, caregivers and other service
providers relative to the student’s
disability and its management. Assists
in development activities to meet the
communication needs of the student.
14. Communicates with appropriate
agencies, schools and other
organizations as needed in order to meet
the needs of students with
communication disabilities.
15. Remains current concerning
instructional and technological
advances and other matters concerning
speech-language therapy.
16. Attends and participate in professional
workshops and conferences.
17. Provides training to other professionals
and paraprofessionals as requested.
18. Attends staff meetings and serves on
committees as needed.
19. Performs related duties as assigned.

Terms of Service: Salary and work days to be determined by the Board.
