Qualifications

  • Current NYS SLP license or eligible.
  • CCC-SLP (ASHA) or eligible.
  • Meets CCC requirements for practice.
  • Minimum 1 year speech therapy in healthcare with developmental delays preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and develop therapy plans for oral motor, communication, and feeding needs.
  • Treat PWS with disabilities related to speech-language pathology.
  • Use therapeutic devices and equipment to prevent regression and maximize speech-language function.
  • Plan, direct, and supervise PWS and families in exercise regimens.
  • Participate in patient communication and interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Document contemporaneously in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Meet productivity expectations.
  • Participate in scheduled supervision.

The Speech Language Pathologist will enjoy a consistent caseload. Evaluate and deliver therapy services to adults and school-aged children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group homes, adult day programs and/or outpatient medical facilities.

Key / Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Evaluates and develops therapeutic plans to address oral motor, communication, and feeding needs of the PWS and provides Speech and Language Habilitation/Rehabilitation services for the patient as ordered by a physician.
  • Treats PWS with disabilities, disorders, and injuries related to the area of Speech Language Pathology.
  • Makes use of therapeutic devices and other equipment to prevent regression or restore maximum performance of speech and language modalities.
  • Plans, directs and supervises PWS, family and/or significant other in the use of equipment and exercise regimen.
  • Participates in patient communication and interdisciplinary care planning for individual patient needs.
  • Contemporaneous documentation using electronic health records.
  • Meet productivity expectation.
  • Participate in scheduled supervision.
Minimum Qualification Requirements

Including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.).

  • Current SLP New York State License or qualifies for receiving license after completing all requirements.
  • Current Certificate of Clinical completion in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association or qualifies for receiving certificate after completing all requirements.
  • Meets the education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • A minimum of one year Speech Therapy experience in a health care setting working with individuals with Developmental Delays preferred.
Preferred Qualification Requirements
  • Experience with the I/DD population (2+ years is preferable).
  • Dysphagia experience, a big plus.
  • AAC experience strongly preferred but not required.

Salary: $68,139.00 Annually
