Job summary

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro in San Pedro, CA is seeking a Per diem Speech-Language Pathologist for 8-hour day shifts. You will perform patient evaluations, establish and implement a plan of care, monitor progress, participate in interdisciplinary discharge planning, and communicate professionally with patients and the care team.

Licensure in California and ASHA standards apply; BLS is required upon hire.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
• California Speech-Language Pathologist License required upon hire.
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient evaluations and establish a plan of care.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as needed.
• Coordinate discharge planning with interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate professional communication with patients and care teams.
• Provide treatment for swallowing, speech, and cognitive impairments per ASHA guidelines.

The Speech-Language Pathologist supports the mission, vision, core values, and objectives of Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center located in Torrance and San Pedro. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing patient evaluations, establishing and implementing a plan of care, monitoring patient's progress, interdisciplinary collaboration, discharge planning. The Speech-Language Pathologist should demonstrate professional communication and interpersonal skills including direct, honest, and compassionate behavior. The Speech Therapist is a licensed professional who is responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in accordance with regulatory agencies and the American Speech Therapy Association (ASHA). The Speech Therapist demonstrates proficient clinical knowledge and skills in providing and initiating treatment programs for individuals with swallowing, speech and cognitive impairments. Utilizing a collaborative team approach in providing care to; young, middle and older adult patients.
