Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat patients with communication, cognitive, voice and swallowing needs in a hospital setting. The role works under supervision of the Rehab Therapy Services Team Leader and department managers to restore patient function.

Responsibilities include using objective assessment methods, designing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and service

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Maryland licensure, ASHA certification, and current AHA CPR certification.
  • Experience in hospital acute care setting preferred.

  • Prescribes and implements a treatment plan designed to restore maximum function.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary health care team to maximize patient and team outcomes.

  • Operates in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Position Summary:
  • Works under the direct supervision of the Team Coordinator and/or Clinical Specialist, and leadership of the Rehab Therapy Services Team Leader and/or Inpatient or Outpatient Manager
  • Uses objective evaluation techniques to assess the Speech, Language, Cognitive, Voice and Swallowing limitations and medical condition of patients
  • Prescribes and implements a treatment program which is designed to return patients to their maximum level of function.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary health care team to maximize patient and team outcomes
  • Promotes improvement in service, department and hospital systems to benefit patient care.
  • Incorporates and operationalizes the goals and objectives of the organization
Education:
  • Completion of a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited academic program
Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:
  • Licensure from State of Maryland, ASHA certification, Current AHA Health Care Provider CPR certification.
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR required.

Shift: Full-time 40 hours per week

Experience:
  • Completion of Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship
  • Experience in Hospital acute care setting

Salary Range: Minimum $34.62/hour - Maximum $57.19/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
