Job summary

St. Joseph Health is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders to improve patient quality of life.

You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and contribute to program development. The role requires advanced clinical knowledge and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field.
  • Speech Language Pathologist license, Texas, required on hire.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and assess patients systematically and thoroughly; establish appropriate treatment plans and goals within specified time frames; administer appropriate treatments; demonstrate knowledge in interventions for speech, language, cognition, and swallowing for patients of all ages.
  • Instruct and supervise patient care of rehabilitation technicians and student affiliates in a respectful, courteous and consistent manner.
  • Maintain timely and accurate medical records; record legibly in patient charts; complete reports in an organized, thorough and timely manner.
  • Foster communication with patients and families, other therapists, physicians, nurses, volunteers, and other hospital personnel to achieve goals and establish department support; attend and provide quality input during multidisciplinary rounds and departmental meetings.
  • Provide patient and family education, including information on outside resources to meet the patient's specific needs.
  • Promote health care outcomes in concert with currently accepted clinical practice guidelines and established clinical pathways; identify poor outcomes data for referral for performance improvement.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Speech Language Pathologist, you will be a vital clinician, expertly assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders to significantly improve patient quality of life.

Every day, you will conduct comprehensive evaluations for all referred patients, meticulously implementing individualized treatment plans. You'll contribute clinical expertise to develop/upgrade treatment programs/protocols, and actively shape departmental and organizational goals.

To be successful in this role, you will possess advanced clinical knowledge, exceptional diagnostic/therapeutic skills, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Job Requirements

  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 days.

Pay Range

$35.53 – $52.85 per hour
