Job Details

Job Family: Therapeutic Services

Supervisor: Speech-Language Program Director

Direct Reports: Classroom techs, other paraprofessionals, clinic students and CF-SLP's as indicated or assigned

Main Purpose of the Role: To provide direct speech-language evaluation and therapeutic services to clients with delays/disorders at the Emerge Center and School for Autism.

Responsibilities
  1. Demonstrate professional knowledge of child development and psycho-social needs.
  2. Treat all clients and families with respect and compassion.
  3. Plan and implement therapeutic sessions based on client needs.
  4. Manage behavior using behavior modification principles, seeking outside assistance when necessary.
  5. Supervise and train classroom techs and clinic students.
  6. Communicate with clients, families, and team members about treatment and progress.
  7. Complete documentation timely (notes, reports, billing).
  8. Maintain caseload, fill open spots promptly.
  9. Conduct evaluations, develop treatment plans, monitor progress.
  10. Follow up with clients and families to maximize treatment effectiveness.
  11. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  12. Attend staff meetings and staffings.
  13. Follow clinic guidelines on infection control, safety, confidentiality.
  14. Assist in planning clinic activities and participate in community events.
  15. Maintain continuing education requirements.
  16. Uphold the center's values and mission.
Qualifications
Required
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA (or CF requirements)
  • Current Louisiana license
Experience
  • At least one year experience with pediatric population
Knowledge
  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of national and state standards in speech-language pathology
  • Understanding of state programs like Early Steps
  • Understanding of evaluation and IEP processes in schools
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in English
  • Effective listening and communication with children, parents, colleagues

  • Reliable presence at assigned locations
Additional Requirements for Group Therapist
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds
  • Move quickly and maneuver around playgrounds
