Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive communication and swallowing rehabilitation. The role includes leading within the Speech Therapy/PM&R department and guiding patient recovery to maximum potential.

Requirements include a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology, a completed Clinical Fellowship, 2 years of experience, Texas licensure, and ASHA CCC. CPR training is also required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
• Completion of a nine-month Clinical Fellowship.
• Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
• CCC certification from ASHA.

Job description

Location: Parkland: LL BLK 400

Provides comprehensive communication and swallowing rehabilitative services to facilitate the patient's ability to recover to their maximum potential and assumes a leadership role in the Speech Therapy/ Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education

• Must have a Master's degree in Speech - Language Pathology from an accredited university.
• Must have completed a nine-month Clinical Fellowship.

Experience

• Must have two years' experience as a Speech/Language Pathologist.

Certification/Registration/Licensure

• Must be licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology.
• Must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) issued by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).

CPR & Other Training

• Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card prior to hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:
• American Heart Association
• American Red Cross Rescuer
• Military Training Network.

Skills or Special Abilities

• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of pediatric and/or adult neurogenic language disorders, swallowing, aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia, voice disorders, alaryngeal communication, articulation and normal language development.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, patients and family members.
• Must be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills.
