Job summary

SPEECHCOM, INC in Pasadena, CA, is hiring a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Clinical Fellow (SLP-CF) for a full-time, school-based role. The site supports a caseload with 48 students and up to 35 billable hours per week, with W2 pay between $68 and $75 per hour.

Candidates must have a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology and CA state licensure;CFs must have completed their master’s program and be ready to apply for a temporary license.

Qualifications

  • Master's in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • California State license in SLP required.
  • CFs must have completed their master's program and be ready to apply for temporary license.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with students, teachers, and families.
  • Ability to complete IEP documentation and communicate via email.

Responsibilities

  • Administer hearing or speech and language evaluations to students.
  • Develop or implement treatment plans for language issues.
  • Instruct students in effective communication techniques.
  • Consult with educators on speech/hearing topics and strategies.
  • Design and employ alternative diagnostic/communication strategies.
  • Use computer tools to support communication needs.
  • Evaluate test results and plan treatment accordingly.
  • Write reports and maintain caseload documentation.
  • Participate in and write IEP progress meetings.
  • Coordinate paperwork and scheduling; write IEP goals.
  • Engage in training for licensure and ongoing education.
  • Supervise or collaborate with the therapy team.
  • Refer students to additional services when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities: Skill in communicating verbally and in writing with students, faculty members, and parents so that all parties understand the program and the degree of progress being made.

Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • State of California License in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Clinical Fellows must have completed their Master's Program and have everything ready to apply for their temporary license (mentorship available)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and families.
  • Must possess sufficient technology skills to complete IEP documentation and communicate effectively via email.

Primary Job Duties: Job Description

  • Administer hearing or speech and language evaluations, tests, or examinations to students to collect information on the type and degree of impairments
  • Develop or implement treatment plans for problems such as stuttering, delayed language, or articulation delays, based on assessments and observations.
  • Instruct students in techniques for more effective communication
  • Consult with and advise educators on speech or hearing topics, such as communication strategies
  • Design, develop, or employ alternative diagnostic or communication devices or strategies.
  • Use computer applications to identify or assist with communication disabilities.
  • Evaluate speech and language test results, or medical or background information, to diagnose and plan treatment for speech, language, fluency, or voice disorders.
  • Write reports and maintain proper documentation of information, such as student billing records or caseload activities, including the initial evaluation, treatment, and progress of students.
  • Participate in and write reports for meetings regarding students' progress, such as individualized educational planning (IEP) meetings.
  • Complete professional responsibilities, such as coordinating paperwork, scheduling case management activities, or writing IEP goals.
  • Participate in training, continuing education courses to maintain licensing and professional requirements.
  • Supervise or collaborate with the therapy team.
  • Consult with and refer students to additional educational services, if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
