Summary

The Home Care SLP supports MaineHealth Care at Home's (MHCAH) mission, vision, and values by exhibiting behaviors such as excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family-centered care, commitment to the community, and accountability. In accordance with national standards of practice and within the guidelines and policies of MHCAH and the Maine State Board of Licensure, the Home Care SLP provides highly reliable, evidence-based, patient-family-centered quality care through assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of care outcomes.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education: Master’s degree in Speech Pathology (Arts, Science, or Education) from an accredited program, with all requirements met for engagement in the Clinical Fellowship Year. Successful completion of the ASHA certifying examination.
  2. License/Certifications: State of Maine licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle covered by liability insurance, as per agency policy. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare providers.
  3. Experience: Preferred one year of full-time experience in a supervised healthcare setting.
  4. Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  5. Analytical skills to identify changes in patients’ conditions and initiate appropriate actions.
