Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education. A master's degree is a plus.
• Valid Michigan teaching certification/licensure for secondary education with Special Education endorsement
• Experience working with students with disabilities and developing IEPs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build positive relationships
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans meeting curriculum standards for diverse learners.
• Develop assessments and evaluate student performance using varied methods.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Deliver direct instruction in various settings, including one-on-one and small groups.
• Provide specialized instruction and support for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to include students with disabilities in all activities.
• Monitor and adjust instruction based on student progress.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and services.
• Stay up-to-date on best practices and research in special education.
• Participate in school activities, meetings, and events; maintain a safe environment.
• Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and staff.
