Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a SPED Teacher for Affective Needs at Pioneer Elementary for the 2026-27 school year. The role focuses on teaching, evaluating and implementing programming for severe significant needs students, using inclusion when possible.

The teacher will manage IEP documentation, communicate with families, supervise paraprofessionals, collect data and integrate technology to enrich instruction, while maintaining professional obligations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required for teaching eligibility.
  • Special Education Generalist License - Colorado required.
  • Ability to plan and implement inclusive instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and implement instructional programs supporting academic growth.
  • Document health-related services in the Medicaid reimbursement system.
  • Participate in student and parent meetings and school activities.
  • Manage student behavior per school rules and disciplinary procedures.
  • Maintain records of student progress and prepare required reports.
  • Utilize technology to provide diverse learning materials and monitor use.
  • Deliver instruction with clearly defined objectives and active learning.
