POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • SPED certification is required.
  • To work with school faculty and staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental IEP plan for every special education student. Help students fully achieve their academic, career, personal, and social abilities, and address their needs.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be an Oklahoma Resident
  • Must come to the office in person 4 days Monday-Thursday.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate - SPED
Essential Position Functions:
  • Plan, prepare, and implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
  • Identify, select, create, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement
  • Maintain effective and efficient record-keeping procedures
  • Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process
  • Communicate with students, parents, and internal and external professionals within established timelines
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment for students by participating in activities that include, but are not limited to, team teaching, meetings, staff development, communities of practice, and various committees
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community membersEnsure that student growth and achievement are continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification
  • Meet specific course and school-wide student performance goals
  • Demonstrate gains in student performance
  • May be responsible for instructional tutoring and extracurricular activities
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others

  • Operational knowledge of the Internet and Web-related technologies

  • Demonstrated a strong work ethic to achieve school goals

  • Ability to learn and apply all required and recommended DVA computer applications to create efficiency and consistency in internal workflows and instructional practices
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully support the DVA core competencies, values, and expectations for student-centered behaviors.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
  • Frequency of travel: Occasional travel may be required.
  • Light physical activities and efforts are required while working in an office environment
