Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; a college degree is not required.
• Experience working with children or students in educational settings is strongly preferred, especially with scholars with disabilities or diverse learning needs.
• Ability to provide academic, behavioral, and individualized support under the SPED Teacher's direction.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues.
• Patience, empathy, flexibility, and commitment to supporting varied needs.
• Ability to follow instructional plans, implement accommodations, and maintain routines.
• Basic proficiency with instructional technology and willingness to learn school systems and digital platforms.
• Openness to frequent, constructive feedback as part of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support the SPED Teacher in delivering high-quality, differentiated instruction for scholars with varied needs.
• Provide individualized and small-group academic support reinforcing concepts and skills.
• Assist with implementing IEPs, accommodations, and support plans as directed.
• Support scholars with daily routines, transitions, assignments, and activities to promote independence.
• Assist with behavior intervention plans and positive supports to develop self-regulation.
• Collect and document scholar progress and instructional data to inform decisions.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where scholars feel valued.
