Job summary
A local charter school in Grayslake seeks a Student Services Instructional Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. The candidate will support educational activities aligned with IEP goals, assist in the creation of materials, and participate in special education meetings. Ideal qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, knowledge of student development, and experience with special needs students. Competitive hourly pay starting at $16.50 is offered, along with health insurance and a 403 B retirement plan.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university.
Experience working with students with special needs (preferred).
Environmental/Outdoor Education background is a plus.
Responsibilities
Implement educational and/or behavioral activities as delineated in the IEP.
Assist in creating materials to meet the student’s needs and IEP goals.
Provide input to the special education team for the student’s IEP.
Participate in IEP meetings and any interim meetings regarding the student.
Notify special education team of academic or behavioral difficulties.
Assist students in managing behavior and to model appropriate behavior.
Assist in data collection as directed by the special education team.
Maintain confidentiality of all student information.
Participate in field trips to provide supervision and support.
Attend professional development training as requested.
Skills
General knowledge of elementary and middle school-aged student's growth and development
Ability to organize and coordinate work
Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Education
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related discipline
Paraprofessional License in Illinois
Substitute Certified in Lake County, IL
