Cobb County School District is seeking a Paraprofessional, Special Education at Tesaley Elem School in Smyrna, GA. The role supports SPED students and assists the teacher with activities and data collection.

The position requires an associate degree or 60 college hours (or a high school diploma with GACE Paraprofessional) and a Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate. Monthly pay; 181 workdays; reports to the Principal.

Qualifications

• Education: associate degree or 60 semester hours with a C or better, or high school diploma with GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate required with related in-service training.
• Experience: none required.
• Physical: lift up to 60 pounds; two-person lift for heavier students.
• Skills: written and oral communication; ability to follow directions.
• The Board may accept alternatives to some requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with student activities and data collection.
• Prepare and implement class activities as directed.
• Participate in school events, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
• Maintain a sanitary environment and follow universal precautions.
• Assist with movement of students around the school and in hall/bus areas.
• Lead the substitute teacher when the regular teacher is absent.
