Job summary

Southeast Polk Community School District seeks a PK Paraprofessional (Sp Ed) to support Four Mile and Runnells Elementary in Des Moines, IA. Work hours are 8:00am-4:00pm, with supervision by building principals and the Director of Special Education.

Required qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and a Paraeducator Certificate from the Iowa Department of Education, plus ability to work with diverse Pre-K–12 students and completion of background checks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Paraeducator Certificate from the Iowa Department of Education is required.
• Demonstrated ability to work with the needs of all Pre-K through 12th Grade students.

Responsibilities

• Assists with small groups and/or individual student instruction and supervision.
• Maintains safe and orderly learning environments across multiple school settings.
• Assists with classroom set up, material preparation, and with students' physical or behavioral needs.
• Operates standard school equipment and completes clerical tasks as assigned.
• Adheres to health precautions and follows IEP directives.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Paraeducator Certificate (Iowa Dept of Education)

Ability to work with diverse Pre-K–12 students

Pre-work screening and background checks

Training including medication administration certification, CPR/First Aid, CPI
