Job summary

Davenport Community School District is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional/IA to support students with diverse learning needs in Davenport, Iowa.

Under supervision of a certified teacher, you will provide research-based social skills instruction, assist with daily living skills and behavior interventions, attend trainings, accompany students on field trips, and help implement IEP goals while ensuring safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to attend evening trainings or meetings during the school year or summer.
• Must be willing to accept feedback from specialists and follow instructions from teachers and administrators.
• Ability to work with students who are explosive in nature and may display aggression.
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing duties directed by the principal, teacher or facilitator.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills and build rapport with culturally diverse students.

Responsibilities

• Provide research based social skills instruction and intervention under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Attend additional required trainings or meetings as scheduled.
• Follow directives of classroom teacher, building administration, and district administration.
• Work with students with disabilities, including Autism and Spectrum Disorder, in special or general education settings.
• Assist with academic tasks, behavior interventions, and daily living skills under supervision.
• Attend field trips with students as necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality and collaborate with staff to meet IEP goals and MTSS objectives.
