Job summary

Kent School District is seeking a SpEd Paraeducator for the Support Center (SC) as a long-term temp position. Salary is based on the KAP Salary Schedule with step placement determined by verified teaching experience within an educational unit. Hours per day vary with the school calendar and student days.

Post-hire state-required trainings will be completed through the KSD Professional Development Team. This role supports students and staff in the special education program at Horizon Elementary,

• Must meet Washington paraeducator minimum requirements via one of the listed options.
• Option 1: AA degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Option 2: 72 college credits from an accredited institution.
• Option 3: ParaPro Assessment score of 455+ plus high school completion or equivalent.

Paraeducator Requirements: Prior to starring, candidates must meet the minimum employment requirements for paraeducators in the State of Washington through one of the following means:

• Associate (AA) degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• 72 college level credits from an accredited institution
• A score of 455 or higher on the ETS ParaPro Assessment and proof of high school completion or equivalent.
  • If you do not yet meet one of these qualifications and are willing to take the ParaPro Assessment, you can still apply. If you are the chosen finalist candidate you will have the opporutnity to take the test prior to being formally hired into the role.

Post Hire Requirements:Upon hire, paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through our KSD Professional Development Team.
