Job summary

Reading Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator for R.I.S.E Preschool in Reading, MA. This role involves one-on-one or small group support under special education teachers to help students access the curriculum and meet IEP goals.

You will collaborate with teachers, therapists, nurses, and staff to create a safe, inclusive classroom, support daily activities, and help track student progress. A high school diploma is required; prior experience with disabilities is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or related work experience.
• Prior experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Patience, empathy, and genuine passion for working with diverse students are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist special education teachers, general education teachers, and other certified specialists in accommodating/modifying lessons and implementing IEPs for students with disabilities.
• Provide academic and behavioral support to students both inside and outside the classroom.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, nurses, and other professionals to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere while ensuring student safety.
• Supervise and assist students with daily tasks and activities including mobility, transitions, hygiene, self-care, self-regulation, and communication.
• Model appropriate behavior for students.
• Collect accurate data to maintain student progress records and communicate with the team regularly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
