Reading Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator to join the R.I.S.E. Preschool team in Reading, MA.

The role involves providing one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities under the guidance of special education staff and teachers. You will support academic and behavioral needs, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and promote an inclusive classroom environment while ensuring student safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or related work experience.
• Prior experience with students with disabilities preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Patience, empathy and genuine passion for diverse learners.
• Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers and specialists in accommodating/modifying lessons and implementing IEPs for students with disabilities.
• Provide academic and behavioral support to students inside and outside the classroom.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and nurses to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support social and emotional growth while ensuring safety.
• Supervise daily tasks and activities and assist with mobility and self-care.
• Collect data to track student progress and communicate with the team.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
