Qualifications

• At least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education.
• Obtained an associate’s degree or higher.
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality test.
• Ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment.
• Ability to work well with children.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Experience with children and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Provide supervision for students in the In-School Suspension classroom.
• Work with students and staff on behavior management and prevention of unwanted behaviors.
• Monitor all ISS assignments and provide encouragement and feedback to students.
• Keep classroom neat and orderly and assist with inventory and maintenance of equipment.
• Keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises and work with individuals or groups.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground duties.
• Inform teachers about special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
