Yupiit School District seeks a SPED Intensive Paraprofessional to assist the special education teacher and administrator in operating the program. You will work with a student with disabilities, staying with that student throughout the school day, and support instructional activities.
The role requires collaboration with the SPED team, ability to follow IEP goals, and performance of duties with confidentiality and cross-cultural awareness.

REPORTS TO: Principal H 6.5 hr/day
LOCATION: Tuluksak School No. DAYS: 179
To assist the special education teacher or administrator in the operation of the Special Education Program. Will be assigned to work with a student with disabilities and stay with that student throughout their school day.
High School diploma or equivalent plus at least two years demonstrated successful experience in general office work. Business college or equivalent training may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as software operating and training instructions, and technical procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before supervisors and district employees. Ability to speak Yupik preferred.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Requires knowledge and ability to operate a variety of software on computers. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and scanning required.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with the principal, staff, students, parents, and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
